Nowdays many things can be learnt from YouTube.com web site absolutely free. This internet service has become a virtual university for million people. From my point of view it is a very helpful tool for improving English Listening skills, that can be used by anyone. To listen and to understand a foreign language speech is crucial and essential for any language learner. Morover there are a lot of different accents in English language in the United Kingdom itself and other English speaking countries. In addition some sounds in English are very strange for me as a Russian native speaker. And I suppose that many learners of English language from non-English speaking countries have the similar problem. Buy everybody can easily overcome these challenges everywhere and improve his/her Listening capabilities with the help of YouTube. I have been using it recent years for educational purposes. I would like to share my personal list of different youtube channels, that are interesting for me. I have not included here youtube channels, that specialize in teaching different aspects of English language itself. Common criterias for all of these channels are using English language as a main communication tool and using this language at the level of native speaker.
Channel List
This is my top list of youtube channels, that I watch from time to time not only for educational purposes, but also for fun. Most of them are travel vlogs with a lot of information about different countries and interesting places all around the World. These Youtube channels allow me to immerse in the culture and environment of the particular place on the Earth.
Bald and Bankrupt — https://www.youtube.com/@baldandbankrupt. I think this is one of the most famous travel vlog on YouTube in English Language. The author of the channel is Benjamin Rich from the United Kingdom. At the moment the channel has more than 4 million subscribers and 675 million views. Benjamin uses a nickname «Bald and Bankrupt» during his adventures all around the world. From my point of view this is the most adventurous real life travelling vlog. And Mr Bald can teach everyone, how to communicate with anybody in any place on the Earth. By the way he visited such interesting and sometimes dangerous places like the Darien Gap in Latin America, Baikonur Cosmodrome and the hangar with Buran shuttle in it in Kazakhstan, Afghanistan with Taliban rule, ancient and modern post-war cities in Syria and many other places. I recommend this vlog for viewing for everyone, who like adventures and travelling.
Mick and Trudie — https://www.youtube.com/@mickandtrudie. The creators of this vlog — Mick and Trudie, the married couple from the Britain. They have been living in Turkiye for many years. They both are native English speakers with the excellent RP accent. In addition Mick speaks very good Turkish language. Their vlog is also about travelling, especially about visiting different interesting places in Turkiye. This mature couple produce professional videos, that always bring on calm and old-school vibes. At the moment of October 2024 they have 164k subscribers on YouTube. If you are interested in Turkish history, culture, people, tourism, I guess this vlog will be useful for you.
Jumping Places — https://www.youtube.com/@JumpingPlaces. This married young couple are seasoned full time travellers, that have been going around the Globe several times. Chris and Carol (Carolina) are creators of this YouTube channel. Chris is from Manchester, UK, and Carol is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Both of them have a good speaking English. The main topics of their channel — different tourist attrations and beach destionations all around the world. They have more than 400k subscribers on YouTube. If you are interested in a leisure lifestyle in Thailand, Philippenes, Caribbean Islands or Mediterranean Countries, this vlog would be very helpful.
Brian and Carrie — https://www.youtube.com/@BrianandCarrie. One more married couple from English native speaking country share their expericence about worldwide travelling on regular basis. Both of them are from the United States and they are in their 50. They started YouTube channel only in September 2021 and have only 69k subscribers at the moment of the October 2024. Nevertheless you can find a lof of useful information and life hacks about different aspects of affordable travel. I especially like their videos with information about the Cost of Living in different parts of the Globe with the detailed expenses calculations. Brian and Carrie prefer travelling with a long stay in different cities (1-2 months). During such period of time they could receive experience from every place like locals.
Daily Stoic — https://www.youtube.com/@DailyStoic. This is a channel of Ryan Holiday, who speaks and writes about stoic rules in our life and usage of the Stoic principles. By the way his channel has 1.75 mln subscribers at the moment. In addition he has created web site DAILY STOIC, where you can get different materials and links about Stoicism philosophy. For me personally, Stoicism is my passion in philosophy and general world view for the last years. Ryan Holiday explains in his videos different Stoic principles from ancient authors and ways of applying these principles to modern life. From my point of view Ryan has a great English pronunciation and diction. I always watch his videos with a big interest.
Nomad Capitalist — https://www.youtube.com/@nomadcapitalist. One more American in my top list, who creats great videos about nomad lifestyle and possibilities to do business in different countries worldwide. Andrew Henderson is the founder of the Nomad Capitalist. Besides he owns a real company, that helps it’s clients with migration and getting the second or third passport with the purpose of finding best place to live and make business. You can find a lot information about his company on the website https://nomadcapitalist.com. He has absolutely understandable american English accent. Moreover this YouTube channel shares a lot of useful information about different aspects of living abroad and cultural aspects of various countries.

There are thousands or even millions different English channels on YouTube. I hope that everybody could find something interesting in all of this variety. Modern IT technologies allow you to immerse yourself in a target language culture and environment. It is especially helpful when you live in a country where you couldn’t get such experience in your everyday life.
